Team Lead – Competence Center, Risk Management Division, Sofia

General duties:
Leadership & Coordination
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of BI Analysts focused on automation, reporting and analytics within the Risk Management Division.
- Manage team workload, project planning and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Serve as a central point of contact for BI-related initiatives across the Risk Division.
Competence Center Focus
- Act as the subject matter expert for BI tools, primarily SQL and Power BI, setting best practices for data modeling, DAX usage, query optimization and report design.
- Establish and maintain a centralized reporting architecture that supports reusable datasets, standardized KPIs and governed data flows.
- Champion self-service BI adoption by enabling stakeholders with intuitive dashboards and easy access to validated, reliable data.
Quality & Governance
- Ensure high standards in data quality, compliance (e.g., GDPR, BCBS 239) and risk data accuracy in all outputs.
- Maintain documentation for all key processes, datasets and reports to ensure consistency and business continuity.
Innovation & Strategy
- Stay informed on new features in Power BI, advancements in SQL technologies and industry best practices in BI and data architecture.
- Drive innovation in data visualization, reporting automation and risk performance monitoring.
Requirements:
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics or Risk Reporting, with a proven track record in SQL and Power BI.
- 2+ years in a leadership, team lead or project coordination role in analytics or data delivery.
- Background in banking or financial services, ideally within Risk or Credit Analytics.
Technical Skills:
- Strong SQL expertise – ability to write, optimize and troubleshoot complex queries on large datasets.
- Expert-level experience with Power BI: data modeling, DAX, Power Query (M), dataflows and deployment pipelines.
- Understanding of data warehouse concepts, ETL processes and enterprise reporting environments.
- Familiarity with data governance principles and regulatory data frameworks (e.g., Basel, BCBS 239).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills – able to present technical findings to business audiences.
- Analytical mindset with a passion for process optimization and problem-solving.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education:
- University degree in a business or mathematics discipline (Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics) or a technical field (Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics).
