Gyöngyi Lóránth

Gyöngyi Lóránth is Professor of Finance at the University of Vienna, where she has been a faculty member since 2009 and currently serves as Head of the Department of Finance.

With more than twenty-five years of academic and research experience, Professor Lóránth is an internationally recognized expert in banking, financial regulation, corporate finance, and corporate governance. Prior to joining the University of Vienna, she held academic positions at the University of Cambridge and conducted research at London Business School.

Professor Lóránth also serves as Part-Time Professor at the Florence School of Banking and Finance of the European University Institute. She has held visiting and teaching appointments at leading European institutions, including ESADE Business School, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF), LUISS University, and Banque de France.

In addition to her academic research and teaching, Professor Lóránth has extensive experience in executive education and professional training. She has delivered executive programs for financial institutions, banking professionals, and bank supervisors, including within the framework of the European Central Bank’s Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM).

Professor Lóránth’s research focuses on financial intermediation, banking regulation and supervision, financial stability, corporate finance, and corporate governance. She is the author of numerous publications in leading international academic journals and regularly contributes to policy and regulatory discussions in the banking sector.

Professor Lóránth holds a Master's degree in Economics from the Budapest University of Economics and earned doctoral degrees in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
