International transfers in foreign currency

At DSK Bank, we know how important it is to have a reliable partner when making foreign currency payments for your business needs.

We offer international transfers in various currencies through the SEPA system for currency payments in countries within the European Economic Area (EEA) and SWIFT transfers for currency payments in countries outside the EEA.

  • The bank executes payment orders for accounts in our offices, accounts in other Bulgarian banks, accounts in foreign banks worldwide, in accordance with the legislation in force in the country.
  • You can receive payments in foreign currency ordered in your favor from other branches of the bank, from other Bulgarian banks, as well as from foreign banks around the world.
  • The bank buys and sells foreign currency, as well as performs arbitrage operations from one foreign currency to another on account or at the cash desk.


SEPA transfers

  • The Single European Payment Area (SEPA) is an EU initiative to harmonize and facilitate cashless payments in euros within the Union. SEPA includes uniform financial instruments, standards, procedures, and infrastructure.
  • DSK Bank participates through the BISERA 7 and STEP 2 payment systems (via OTP Bank). Requirements stipulate that payments must be made in euros for all EEA countries, in a strictly regulated format according to ISO 20022, including transfer costs to be "shared" (SHA).
  • We offer SEPA credit transfers, which have lower fees than other interbank cross-border transfers. You can check all of the bank's fees for payment transactions here.

SWIFT transfers

  • The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) is a payment system for transferring and exchanging data and financial transactions between financial institutions around the world.
  • The bank sends SWIFT transfers to all countries outside the EEA. You can make a transfer quickly and easily through DSK Direct - Interbank transfer in foreign currency.
  • Currency transfers sent through DSK Direct give you a preferential exchange rate in real time depending on the amount and currency of the transfer.

Transfers via DSK Direct

  • You can make quick and easy SEPA and SWIFT transfers via the DSK Direct electronic channel – Interbank transfer in foreign currency.
  • To make a currency transfer, you need to have the recipient's name and address, bank account number (IBAN), and the name and address of the recipient bank.
  • You can choose between two options - SEPA transfer via STEP 2 (standard transfer in euros for EEA countries with shared costs /SHA/) and TARGET 2* (express transfer in euros for EEA countries or for banks outside the EEA participating in TARGET 2 with shared costs /SHA/).
  • TARGET 2 is a payment system owned and operated by the Eurosystem. It is the leading European platform that enables banks in the EU to make real-time transfers in euros between each other.
